Watercolour study depicting a family wandering down to a lake before beautiful mountains, circa 1815. SN-75-527
Henry Edridge ARA (1768 –1821) was a 15-year-old apprentice to William Pether, a mezzotint engraver and landscape painter.
He completed portraits of Lord Nelson, the explorer Mungo Park, the Prime Minister William Pitt and John Wesley. Sir Joshua Reynolds was a fan of Edridge and bought one of his miniatures.
Thomas Hearne worked with Edridge to hone his skills as a landscape painter. Three of his landscapes are now in the South Kensington Museum.
