George Cattermole was a friend of Charles Dickens.
He was a British painter, illustrator, architect and topographical draughtsman.
He illustrated the Cathedral Antiquities of England produced by John Britton. He also collaborated on illustrations for Dickens's The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge.
Cattermole specialized in scenes of medieval chivalry, and romantic aspects of the past.
