Portrait of Gentleman, Andrew Geddes.
Red chalk on paper, circa 19th Century (code AF10-013).
Andrew Geddes (1783-1844) was a Scottish portrait painter and etcher.
Geddes was born in south Edinburgh. He moved London and entered the Royal Academy schools. He settled in London in 1831, and was elected associate of the Royal Academy in 1832.
His portrait of Sir Walter Scott is in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
